What I Have Been Up To

I have actually had a pretty good week.  Nothing exciting going, but nothing too bad either.

I did have an interesting trip to Walmart with the 4-year-old Friday night.  We are stopped in an aisle looking at stuff, and E. is in the cart.  Well, a young couple comes walking down the aisle and, of course, my child has to say hi to them.  She is 4 and thinks she has to talk to everyone.  So, they stop for a minute to ask to her.  Now, these kids are late teens, maybe early twenties.  So E asks the young girl, "Is that your boyfriend?"  And the girl tells her yes, he is.

Now, here is the kicker.

E turns to me and asks, "Mommy, are they having sex?"

I get all red and have no clue what to answer.  I want to sink through the floor.  My first thought is, did she say what I think she said?  My next thought is, where the hell did she learn that?

So, I do what has to be done.  I tell her that that is not something we ask, apologize to the young couple (the girl is as red as I am and the guy is trying really, really hard not to laugh) and rush to another part of the store.

I am never, never taking my child out in public ever again.

Yea, right.

I am still trying to figure out where she learned this.  TV?  Probably.  I am pretty guilty of using TV as a babysitter at times.  But damn, all she ever watches are cartoons.  Her sister?  Maybe.

Other than that and her getting an allergic reaction to a band-aid (of all things, a friggin' band-aid) and me having to shell out major dough for Prednisone, the week has been pretty calm.

Hope life is running smooth for everyone else.

Monday's Suck

Even though I work weekends and today is really my Thursday, I can tell it was Monday.  It sucked.  Crappy weather all weekend and it got beautiful weather today.  I did not even have a legitimate reason to blow off work and enjoy it.  At least if it had been the weekend, I could have justified it by spending time with the kids.

I did find out some good news today.  My job will pay for me to go back to school.  I want to go for a degree in History, but I cannot even begin to find a job I want that the degree will help me get.  The college close to me has a really good Management of Technology B.A. program.  I think I am going to go for that.  Computer jobs are really big in my area with all the defense and space contracters, and I do like computers.  I am going to do a little more thinking on the matter.

Well, I am tired and grumpy and I am going to bed.

Take care, all.

Slacker

My goal was to update here every day.  Yea, that worked.  A few days I really did forget.  A few days I just read other people's blogs, too lazy to even comment.

I am trying to think up new and interesting things to say.  LOL!

My older daughter got her report card yesterday and I went ballistic!  She went from straight A's to a C in Language Arts.  Needless to say, I had a meeting with the teacher today.  Turns out A (my older daughter) got a 50 on one assignment and did not bother to turn in another.  She will be doing some extra credit work in that class.  I told her if that grade does not come up, she will not be going to 4-H camp this summer.

E (my younger daughter) is going through this fit-throwing stage.  Every time she hears the word "no."  That is coming to an end real quick, if I have to wear her little butt out.  Yes, I do spank sometimes. I do not beat my kids and I do not spank very often, but sometimes it is the most effective punishment.

I started looking into taking some classes this summer.  I really want to go back and get my B.A. in history.  I don't know what I will do with it because I do NOT want to teach!  But, I feel like that is where I am being led.

I'll try and update again soon.

The Globetrotters!

Took the girls to see the Harlem Globetrotters last night.  It was an awesome show!  They are so hilarious and the action never stops.  They play music throughout the entire show and really interact with the audience.  They are some really good dancers too!

My older daughter caught a free T-shirt and they actually came and got my younger one out of the audience and had her participate during the game.  One of the players, Special K, was supposed to be shooting for a basket and headed out into the audience instead.  He had my daughter shoot for him instead.  It took her about 5 tries but she finally did it!

We got home about 10:30 and we were all so tired.  But it was worth it!  I wish shows like that came around here more often.

I have got to get some laundry done tonight.  The girls are having a sleep over party at the babysitter's tomorrow night and I need to have some clean clothes for them to take.  I also need to get to the store and stock up on some groceries.

Take care all!

Ok.  This keeping up a blog thing every day is kind of hard.  I don't really have anything to say.  I got up, went to work, came home, made dinner for me and the kids and did laundry.  Now I am sitting here.

Boy, is my life exciting.

Well, the Globetrotters tomorrow night should be fun.
